Online Application Instructions

The online application is available each application cycle beginning on the second Monday of September.

We're happy that you have chosen the online application to apply for graduate admission and fellowships. We encourage you to complete your entire application online. Remember, you may apply to only one graduate program or one concurrent degree program by the deadline for that specific program. Please review Berkeley's admissions criteria and requirements and also review the requirements of the program to which you are applying before you create your online account. (Applicants to programs in the Boalt Hall School of Law, in the Haas School of Business, or in the School of Public Health must use application materials provided by those programs.)

To create an online account you'll need:

• A valid email address: If you don't have one, you can obtain free email accounts from several sources, including Hotmail, Yahoo, and Google's Gmail.
• A current browser: Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer (6), Safari (for Mac OS X 10.3 - 10.3.8 or later), or Netscape Navigator (6.2x or later).
• Internet access: An internet service provider that allows you to access a secure server.
• Adobe Acrobat: An Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® plug-in installed in your browser to view and print downloadable forms provided in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). If you do not have the Acrobat Reader, follow the link above to download a free copy.

To apply online:

• Go to the Online Application

If you should experience technical difficulty when applying online, please send an email describing the problem to gradapp@berkeley.edu. A member of the Online Application staff will respond as soon as possible.

Application Deadlines:

Please consult the list of Graduate Programs and Application Deadlines. Most departments accept students for the fall semester only.

NOTE: The online application may not be available on Sundays, 8 to 8:15 am, Pacific time. We reserve this time for regular systems maintenance. If we anticipate being out of service at other times, we will post a notice here and on the online application login page.
