Meet the Graduate Dean event

Graduate Alumni & Friend Events

Meet the Graduate Dean

Soon after Andrew J. Szeri became Dean in July 2007, he began hosting the Meet the Graduate Dean events that have now spanned three continents and five states. These lively, sell-out events provide an opportunity for alumni and friends to meet each other and learn about some of the latest research trends at Berkeley. In addition to reconnecting with campus and networking with alumni, participants enjoy gourmet (often local and sustainable) food and wine in unique venues. Graduate Council Lectures

These lectures feature distinguished scholars and speakers on topics in history, science, public policy, literature, philosophy, and human values. Past lecturers include Stephen Hawking, Claude Levi-Strauss, Edwin Hubble, Noam Chomsky, and Michel Foucault. For schedules and details, or to be notified by email about upcoming events, please see the Graduate Council Lectures website.

Berkeley Distinguished Graduate Fellows Reception

In March 2011, an inaugural reception was held to honor recipients of Berkeley’s most competitive and prestigious graduate fellowships. The Chancellor and Mrs. Birgeneau co-hosted the evening along with Graduate Dean Andrew Szeri. More than 250 fellows enjoyed the company of their peers, high-profile donors to fellowships, and key faculty and staff supporters. The event will be held again in February 2013.
