About Robert Lucky

Robert Lucky is the corporate Vice President of Applied Research at Bell Communications Research. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and a board member of the National Academy of Engineering. Lucky is best known for his invention of the adaptive equalizer, a technique for correcting distortion in telephone signals which is used in all high speed data transmission today. He is the 1987 Marconi Prize recipient for his contributions to data communications and is also the author of the popular book Silicon Dreams (1989) which discusses the ways in which both humans and computers deal with information.
