About Carlo Rubbia

Carlo Rubbia is an Italian particle physicist who was awarded the Noble Prize in Physics (1984) for his discovery of the W and Z particles at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). During his term as President of ENEA, an Italian Government sponsored research and development agency, he developed a novel method for concentrating solar power at high temperatures for energy production. Known as the Archimedes Project, it is presently being developed by industry for commercial use. Rubbia is currently principal Scientific Adviser of CIEMAT, a Public Research Agency in energy and environment in Spain.
