Linus Pauling was an American chemist, peace activist, author, and educator. He was one of the most important scientists of the 20th century and is the only person ever to win two unshared Nobel Prizes. He won for Chemistry in 1954 for his work on the nature of the chemical bond and the structure of molecules and crystals. He won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1962 for his campaign against above ground nuclear testing.
