Michel Foucault, the French philosopher and historian is famous for his critical study of social institutions including prison systems, the human sciences and medicine. Foucault’s inspiration for his research comes from Friedrich Nietzsche, the German philosopher and classical philologist. He alluded his work, the “genealogy of knowledge” to Nietzsche’s work, the “genealogy of morals” and claimed himself a “Nietzschean”.
