About Alain Enthoven

Professor Alain Enthoven has published widely in the fields of the economics, organization, management and public policy of health care in the United States and United Kingdom. His recent work is focused on the failings of employment-based health insurance and on proposals for market-based universal health insurance in the U.S. Enthoven was a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense from 1961 to 1965, and from 1965 to 1969 he was the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Systems Analysis. Currently he is Marriner S. Eccles Professor of Public and Private Management, Emeritus, at Stanford Institute for International Studies.
