Fred Bergsten is an American economist, an author, and a political advisor who co-founded the Center for Global Development with Edward W. Scott and Nancy Birdsall. He served in the US Treasury Department from 1977 to 1981 as the Assistant Secretary for International Affairs under President Carter.
