Professor Aaron Wildavsky is a Professor of History and Politica Science at the University of California (1875-1911). He contributed to the study of problems of the Latin-American republics.
Wildavsky is the founding dean of the Graduate School of Public Policy and a distinguished political scientist at Berkeley. Wildavsky is the author of 11 books, including The Politics of the Budgetary Process and, with Nelson Polsby, Presidential Elections. He has also written extensively on planning and budgeting both in the United States and in underdeveloped countries; the presidency; national party conventions; local government; and many other issues of America's domestic and foreign affairs. A native of Brooklyn, Wildavsky earned his Ph.D. degree from Yale. After teaching at Oberlin College he joined the U.C. faculty at Berkeley in 1963. He was chariman of the Department of Political Science for three years. In 1969 he became the founding dean of the Graduate School of Public Policy (originally called Public Affairs).
