MEMO: Graduate Student Employee Emergency Loan Program
NOTE: This program has ended.
A special emergency loan agreement (Graduate Student Employee Emergency Loan Program) has been set up with the Financial Aid Office for those international students who are waiting for their social security numbers and who have a job for the spring. If the student has exhausted all other options and is in need of immediate funds, the student can request an amount up to $1,200* from the Emergency Loan Office (220 Sproul, 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday) provided the department will certify that the student will have a job for the spring. Students will need to bring a completed departmental confirmation form (see below) from their department certifying their appointment, and they will need to fill out an emergency loan application from the Emergency Loan Office. The first day to apply for a Graduate Student Employee Emergency Loan is Tuesday, January 10. The loan will be due and payable in approximately 60 days.

We would also like to remind you of the following four other loan alternatives which are available to students*:
1) Any student who is already registered can apply for a same day loan of $650 from the Emergency Loan Office.
2) Any non-registered student can apply for a "Co-payable Loan for Fees" from the Emergency Loan Office.
3) Any student who is not yet registered should contact the Financial Aid Office for loan options.
4) University loans for nonresident tuition and fees are available from Billing and Payment Services, 140 University Hall. These loans require a cosigner.
* Note: A student may have only one loan at any one time (including the Graduate Student Employee Emergency Loan).
